With The Africa Safari Co. now bringing its 23-years of experience and expertise to the domestic market, a select group of Travellers Choice members jumped at the chance to road test one of the tours featured in the wholesaler’s new Australian program.

The five-day escapade in December through New South Wales combined spectacular waterfalls and gumtree-lined country lanes with rustic cellar doors and beautiful olive groves. In addition, agents headed off the beaten track in the Blue Mountains, imbibed robust reds and fruity whites in the Mudgee and Orange wine regions, and took a step back in time in the gold rush town of Gulgong.

Arguably the highlight of the tour, however, was an overnight stay at the Western Plains Zoo, where agents enjoyed a unique slice of Africa, staying in lodges surrounded by the resident giraffes, rhinos, zebra and antelope.

The NSW Wine and Wildlife tour is just one of a broad range of excursions The Africa Safari Co. has incorporated into its new domestic program, which also explores Australia’s dazzling coastlands, the Outback, the Daintree Rainforest, the mountains of Tasmania and the Great Barrier Reef.

Travellers Choice General Manager Marketing Robyn Mitchell says the educational was “a light at the end of a long year” for members.

“Our independent travel agents, like the wider travel industry, have done it incredibly tough during 2020,” say Mitchell. “Travellers Choice has been hard at work on behalf of members all year, and it was immensely rewarding to finish the year by giving them the opportunity to do something that’s usually very ‘normal’ for a travel agent.

“As well as further developing their personal experience of domestic destinations, it was heart-warming to see how much they appreciated being back in the company of their fellow Travellers Choice members.”
