Travellers Choice Board sets its mind to further growth

The Travellers Choice Board met in Perth this month, the first meeting in the Western Australian state capital for four years. The Board, which always includes a majority of member directors, meets annually to assess the current operating environment and ensure the network's long-term strategy remains fit-for-purpose.

This year, directors attending the Perth gathering took part in a workshop exploring "the director mindset".

Managing Director Christian Hunter says the workshop, led by Travellers Choice chair Trent Bartlet, was based on a key module offered by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

"Essentially it helps directors become more skilful in the way they interrogate a company's strategic plan, in part by guiding them to ask the most pertinent and perceptive questions," says Hunter.

"It's an excellent way of helping our directors continually develop their skills, while at the same time ensuring Travellers Choice is travelling in the right direction."

During the meeting, Hunter says directors also explored new ways to further "unlock the magic" in the Travellers Choice model.

"Travellers Choice is currently in an enviable position, with exceptionally strong feedback from our preferred partners and 100% satisfaction from our members. The Board is determined to ensure we continue to reap the maximum possible benefit from that scenario – particularly when it comes to optimising network growth through the addition of high-calibre independent travel businesses."

Travellers Choice took its recruitment efforts to a new level in 2023 with the roll-out of the 'Choose Day' campaign and the appointment of Paul Millan to the newly-created role of Network Development Manager.

Since then, the group has welcomed a range of new members from across New South Wales, Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia.
